Training as a Competitive Advantage at Butler Gas

At Butler Gas, we believe exceptional customer service starts with exceptional
people.

We continuously invest in training, development, and benefits that help our team members
thrive personally and professionally.

This month, we launched a new Butler Gas University (BGU) session: “Your Best Year
Yet: Wealth and Wellness Strategies for 2026.” This practical, 60-minute workshop focused on helping our employees strengthen both their wealth-building and wellness-building efforts by fully leveraging the employee benefits package available.

A Partnership Built for Long-Term Success

We’re proud to deliver this training in collaboration with two trusted partners:

  • First Commonwealth Wealth Management, supporting our team with tools and
guidance related to our 401(k) Profit Sharing wealth building plan
  • First Commonwealth Insurance Group, providing expertise and education across
    our employee benefits offerings

Together, these partnerships help our workforce make informed, confident decisions,
whether they are planning for retirement, optimizing benefit selections, or building
healthier day-to-day habits that support long-term performance.

Why This Matters to Our Customers and Partners

For our customers, suppliers, and industry peers, this initiative reflects something we take seriously: a stable, trained, and empowered workforce drives better outcomes.

When employees understand their benefits and feel supported, they bring more focus, consistency, and pride to their work. That shows up in the places our customers feel most:

  • Reliable, friendly service and eager responsiveness
  • Strong safety performance and attention to operational detail
  • Higher retention, deeper knowledge, and smoother operations
  • A stronger team culture that translates to better communication and follow-through

This is also a key part of how we recruit and retain top talent in a competitive labor market. We are intentional about building a workplace where people can grow, build a career, and provide for their families. The best teams deliver the best customer experience.

Butler Gas University: Training as a Competitive Advantage

BGU is our internal training and development platform designed to sharpen skills, strengthen leadership, and reinforce the “Butler Gas way” of serving customers. “Your Best Year Yet” expands that commitment by ensuring our people are equipped not only to do their jobs well, but to build a strong foundation beyond the workplace.

We appreciate First Commonwealth’s continued collaboration and shared commitment to helping our people succeed. Investing in our workforce is not a one-time event. It is part of our long-term approach to delivering safe, reliable, customer-first service for decades to come.

If you’d like to learn more about Butler Gas University or our approach to talent
development, we’d welcome the conversation.

Training Our Customers, Too: Safety Education That Prevents Incidents

Training and empowerment are not just internal priorities. We also invest in customer safety education. Butler Gas offers Gas Cylinder Safe Handling and Storage Training to help compressed gas users increase safety knowledge and awareness across their teams.

This program is built on CGA-accredited content and includes a Certificate of Completion for each participant, supporting stronger site practices, clearer accountability, and safer day-to-day operations.

A few examples of covered topics include:

  • Connecting and using cylinders; moving and storing cylinders; and safe cylinder
    securement
  • Recommended PPE, cylinder markings, and label/symbol understanding and
    product classification
  • Oxygen safety; acetylene cylinder handling; cryogenic liquids in portable
containers; and emergency response/site security (including hydrogen emergency
    response)

Courses are delivered at the customer’s facility during standard business hours, with packaged pricing options, including a one-hour classroom certificate course and a two-hour classroom plus live training certificate course (training packages include up to 12 attendees, with scalability for larger groups).

Safety training is one more way we aim to be more than a supplier. We strive to be a proactive partner in protecting people, facilities, and operations.
